Influencing Factors on Quality of Life of Patients with Alcohol Dependence

Abstract
Objective£ºThe aim of this study was to investigate the relationships among subjective quality of life and depressive symptoms and stress responses of patients with alcohol dependence.

Methods£º92 patients with alcohol dependence completed the quality of life and stress response inventory and Korea depression scale and Toronto alexithymia scale.

Results£º56% of variance of quality of life of patients with alcohol dependence were explained by the alexithymia and depressive symptoms and stress responses, and the alexithymia had the most explanatory power. Frequency of drinking, occupation and scores of ADS had significant explanatory power.

Conclusions£ºThe quality of life of patients with alcohol dependence may be influenced by depressive symptoms and alexithymia and stress response. The specialists were identifying symptoms of depression and optimizing the management, therefore increasing the compliance and quality of life of patients with alcohol dependence.
